One place I
often visit to find original artwork on the Internet is the
Elfwood gallery at http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/elfwood.html
It states it is
the largest home of amateur Science Fiction & Fantasy art and
fiction, and I believe this to be
quite a true statement from what I've seen ! It's a non-profit
project created and maintained by
Thomas F Abrahamsson and others, based in Sweden.
There is a lot
of wonderful unicorn artwork to be found on there in the "Lothlorien" online art gallery !
Don't set out with the intention of spending a short time going
through this site, you wont, in fact, you
could spend weeks ! There is that much artwork there, and some of
it of a very high standard
indeed ! There is a search engine there that will help you find
things though.
(Please note,
some images there may not be suitable for minors !)
In the last editions, I reviewed the pages of some artists I found
there,
So, here are pointers to some more artists pages I've enjoyed
seeing recently :-
---------
My top choice of the Elfwood
images for this edition is the wonderful
work by the extremely talented artist (and writer) Inge Dagmar Manders.
'Ebony and Ivory' and 'Ebony and Ivory2' are absolutely
outstanding pictures,
the detail and expression in this series of two pictures is
excellent, see ;
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/d/a/dagmar/ebonyivoryuni.jpg.html and
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/d/a/dagmar/blackwhiteuni.jpg.htm
There are just too many more
good pictures here to mention from
this artist
who's already excellent and beautiful work I know will go from
strength
to strength, just go and take a look for yourself.
Paula Martiskainen has
a number of unicorn pictures, especially
good is a picture called Ro's Unicorn and a sketch of a mare too.
there.
Paula also has an excellent website which contains her unicorn
and equine artwork which is definitely worth
a visit.
Erin 'Kirin Blue' Stevenson also has done some excellent artwork of unicorns
and Kirin too. Especially good is an impressive pencil sketch
called "Sky Ride,"
and also 'Fleeting Innocence'. The Kirin (Asian Unicorn) artwork
on the page
is also of an equally high standard. The artist competently
expresses a lot of
power and energy within these images, so do take a look at this
page.
Sara 'Luna' Nöelle Gilman has some interesting work, particularly 'Sorrel
unicorn'
and also Charging / Springing Unicorn on her page on the
Elfwood site.
Finally, 'Rafaela Unicorn'
by Leah Yerpe is a very
good drawing and is worth a look too.
I will be mentioning more unicorn artwork from this gallery
site over the next few editions...........
