Some Unicorn Stories
Recently I came across some good stories also involving Unicorns on the
"Threshold to Minotaur's Rest" website. Two in particular are "Ride the Unicorn"
and a longer story called "Rarest of the Wild". Do take a look at the others there too.
Thanks to Kaz, the sites author for letting me mention these.

Breyer Unicorn Models
Breyer horse models have brought out a pair of unicorn models. This is a mare and
foal pair, called Alida and Elidor. There is a page about them on Breyers site
which you can visit by clicking here. They do look quite good too !

New Unicorn Book
There is a book that has been released called "Treasures of the Unicorn - the
return to the sacred quest" by the author, Ted Andrews. You can order it from
Amazon.co.uk for about £7.39 (UK). For more details on Amazon, click here
I have ordered this so expect a review of it here soon.

Online Unicorn RPG Games
I came across two interesting RPG sites online recently. "Unicorns of Utopia" and "Run Free"
"Unicorns of Utopia" is an online RPG about a land called Utopia inhabited by herds
of unicorns and horses. As the site describes it, Utopia is ; "a vast, peaceful place
with everything you could possibly wish for. In the distance, you can see what
seems like a mountain. However, on closer inspection you will find that it is
in fact an immense, vertical wall; a mountainous ridge which runs
all the way around a place known as Utopia's Heart. This place
is well named for it is the heart of the Unicorn world"

"Run Free" is an online RPG based on the movie "Spirit, Stallion of the Cimmaron.
Both of the above are run by "Sari" who can be contacted on babyangel@tiscali.co.uk

There is another Unicorn and Horse RPG game called "Equines of Enchantra"

Wish Upon a Unicorn
I recently came across an excerpt from book Wish Upon a Unicorn by Vicki Blum
online. The book has been illustrated by Alan Barnard. The excerpt and more

Delights Fantasy Art
Delights fanatsy art at www.delightsfantasyart.com has a number of unicorn
images for sale in the acrylic art section of the website, do take a look !

Evening Star Ranch
This mode horse 'ranch' has some beautiful unicorn figures within the fantasy
section at eveningstarranch.tripod.com/html/fantasy/fantasy.html

Pryzm the Dark Unicorn
TDK Media-Active have released a game for the Playstation 2 platform called
"Pryzm, the Dark Unicorn" I know it's been available in the US for a while, but I've also
recently seen it available in the UK too ! There is also an online comic (featuring
the unicorns) on the webpage too as well as screen shots of the game.
Now to get myself a PS2, at last I have a good excuse 8-)

This calendar for 2003, containing images by Susan Seddon Boulet (1941–1997)
presents twelve of Boulet’s finest unicorn images, and is available from

Unicorn Artwork, the Elfwood Gallery

One place I often visit to find original artwork on the Internet is the
Elfwood gallery at http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/elfwood.html

It states it is the largest home of amateur Science Fiction & Fantasy art and fiction, and I believe this to be
quite a true statement from what I've seen ! It's a non-profit project created and maintained by
Thomas F Abrahamsson and others, based in Sweden.

There is a lot of wonderful unicorn artwork to be found on there in the "Lothlorien" online art gallery !
Don't set out with the intention of spending a short time going through this site, you wont, in fact, you
could spend weeks ! There is that much artwork there, and some of it of a very high standard
indeed ! There is a search engine there that will help you find things though.
(Please note, some images there may not be suitable for minors !)

In the last editions, I reviewed the pages of some artists I found there,
So, here are pointers to some more artists pages I've enjoyed seeing recently:-

Some of the best unicorn (and Pegasus) pictures I found there this month were by
the artist Karin Holmström. A picture there simply called 'Unicorn' is fantastic, the
equine form and eye expression are excellent in this picture. Another picture of a
unicorn being annoyed by a dragon I love the expression in too, it's a quite
delightful picture. Other good pictures by his artist are at ;

I was also impressed by Amanda 'Moon Lightning' East's work, especially two

There is some excellent work by Annah Hutchings (Amarys) there too,

Pages of Special Merit

This December's edition award goes to ....

Gissel E.

This person does not have a website of their own, but Gissel's unique unicorn
artwork can be found on many places on the internet. Her artwork I find to
be astounding and inventive, full of the finest detail. You can spend ages
just looking at some of these pictures ! Most of Gissel's work can be found
on Neysa's extensive picture collection site, where it has it's own page to
itself called the Gissel E Collection. I do advise you to take a look at
this work. I additon, I am proud to have one of this artists own original
works of art which is a favourite unicorn drawing amongst my collection
here, having a prominent place on my wall. It was looking at this recently,
and getting so much nspriration from it, that I decided that Gissel needed
to be given some recognition for that. This person is also an
excellent writer, and a wonderful person to know too.

So, I'm proud to say Gissel E. gets the award for this month.

New Websites

As usual there are a number of new sites to look at for this edition that have been added to the
Unicorn links page (which was moved to a separate page then split into two some time ago).

NOTE ! Those links were also recently checked, and ones that no longer work have been removed.

The Unicorn and the Jorge is as the site's author writes ; "A land where unicorns live in
peace and are loved by people around the world". The author has gathered an extensive
collection of unicorn pictures found on the net, (hopefully with the artists permissions !).
You MUST visit this one, its worth it !

The Brotherhood of the Unicorn is an iIlustrated item on the book
"The History and Truth of the Unicorn", a well designed page too !.

Unicorn Jewels is an intersting site with information about unicorns,
history of unciorns, pictures, links and other items too.
Mysteries of Unicorns has information about unicorns as well
as a picture gallery too.

I found a few sites containing unicorn stories this month ;
The Unicorn Story is a short story by Wendy Popsin,and is worth a read.
The Unicorn is an excellent illustrated story in several parts by Shelly Quinn
Frozen Roses's Gallery site has a page called Mythalogica, which is described
as a "magical place where legends truely do live". Within this are a
series of stories about a unicorn race, worth a visit !

Other new sites added are ; Maria's Mystical page which has poems and
pictures of unicorns. The Unicorn Grove which has information
about unicorns, movies, books, links, poems and other items.
Also added are Unicorns and Unicorn Sanctuary

Added late last month, so included again this time are ;

Fantasy Horses is a very new site, and I think one to really look out for in the future. As well
pictures and information on Unicorns, it has the same for Pegasus as well as access
to horse and unicorn poster sites, wearable horse art and other things. Centaurs have
recently been added and other mythical creatures are also promised soon too.

World of Unicorns (found from Carolina's Website) has information on Unicorns,
quotations, pictures and the site authors own pictures and wallpapers too.

And if you ever wanted to ask the question 'Do I spend a lot of
time looking for Unicorn sites ?' The answer is YES 8-).
Just don't ask how big my monthly phone bill is, or
if my computer keyboard is worn out yet ! OK <grin>

Unicorn Rocking Horses

This absolutely wonderful 46" high carved unicorn rocking horse was
sculpted by DJ Liccardi, and can be found on the "Rare Breed"
Rocking Horse website at www.djlrarebreed.com
There are also many examples of other rocking horses there too.

Spencer's Wizards

"Spencer's Wizards" online store, based in Bradenton, Florida has a number of wonderful
collectible Unicorn figures for sale, as well as Dragons and other items. The store is worth a visit.

Lyne's Creations

Lyne's Creations artwork site has a lot of wonderful 3D computer generated equine
and other artwork, and also has some unicorn pictures too. The picture "Unicorn" on
the Fantasy Art page is just mind-blowing, you will have to take a look.
Unicorn and Cat is a beautiful picture and also worth seeing

More Unicorn Artists.....

Two art sites that have some good unicorn artwork are Alicorn Creative Designs,
especially Stephanie Small's excellent artwork. Also worth visiting is
Cathey's Gallery which you can find at www.unicornpaintings.com.

Swandog Studios (Art by Xenia) has some wonderful original
artwork with some Unicorn pictures (and equine / TF one's) too.
It has recently moved to it's own domain name, swandogstudio.com

Tonia D has a done a quite astounding Unicorn pictures, in particular, look

This recently opened online store has many wonderful unicorn
and other fantasy gifts within it, it's worth a look certainly !

The Lost Unicorns:

The Lost Unicorns is an article excellent article by Karkadann with accompanying
illustrations which deals with what the appearance of a unicorn should really
be. The entire website at http://www.avians.net/paragon is well worth a visit
too, it's well illustrated and is dedicated to creatures of myth and legend.

Johnnas Stained Glass and Gifts has a series of excellent and quite beautiful

Miscellaneous topics

You can see a wonderful Pegasus statue in the process of being made!
If you visit the website of the artist and sculptor Cary J. Van Dansik ,
and take a look at the Pegasus page, you will get great insight into
the creation of beautiful sculpture of Pegasus, based on a portrait
of Welsh mountain stallion. There is also a pair of unicorns
there too, as well as the most wonderful equine sculptures
you will probably ever see.

Anyone who likes flying Unicorns and Pegasi, there is a great site

This is one of the first unicorn pictures I've done myself.
Its based on a photograph of a horse I took which

Another unusual unicorn picture.
These two impressive stone unicorn figures are
on a factory wall in Stafford near my home.
They were erected when the building was
constructed which was sometime around 1937-1938.

This picture, created using Photoshop, was sent to me by Mare Astra
as a self portrait. She is significant for having one of the first Unicorn
websites I ever found on the Internet, and her site helped to
inspire the creation of this website over three years ago.

Content and Originality

Original work is becoming rarer, and certainly should be valued. But too many
websites recently though are copying others ideas and work then claiming
sole right to it themselves ! They also often use annoying Java code that
stops the right mouse button from working. It's not easy to bookmark pages
easily for reviewing on this page when half the browsers functions have
been disabled by unfriendly Java code ! There are better
ways of protecting original images such as watermarks.
