On arriving outside the "Potteries Shopping Centre" in Hanley where this event was taking place, I saw this gelding being walked prior to being prepared for the parade. One of those taking part kindly told me more about the event too, which was much appreciated.

Preparations for the event took place in an underground carpark / delivery area of the shopping complex. It's a shame the local council couldn't have organised this in a more public area such as Hanley Park, and also have publicised it better. I'm sure more people would have wanted to see the horses being groomed and prepared for the event.

After the horses are carts were all prepared, they waited to leave the shopping centre whilst the Police stopped the city centre traffic......

...before they were led off for a tour around Hanley by this lead horse with its rider.

One by one, all the horses left the shopping centre...

Sadly, the parade of these wonderful heavy horses was soon over. Hopefully there will be another next year too.
